The Pastor's Corner
Mark C. Minney

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: {20} Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20)
This commission was  given to the church. ... the church, not the pastor or any individual apostle or preacher. The responsibility rests upon the Lord’s church. That means that the primary responsibility of the church is to preach the gospel, then baptize and teach all things. Other things should not get in the way of our effort to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is our primary responsibility.

We have entered into a very serious time in our national existence. America is facing one of the most critical times in her history. There is much opposition to the direction that the present administration is taking us, as well there should be. If things continue in the direction they are going in, then America, as we have known it, shall come to an end. It is a time when the voice of every American patriot should be heard, and the only way it will make any real difference is through our right to vote. We can complain all we desire to, but the politicians pay no attention to that. It is time to clear out Washington of the career politicians who have shown their contempt for the Constitution, and replace them with men who love what America has stood for from the beginning.

Now, having said that, and I could certainly say more, there are several different organizations that are taking advantage of their right to peaceful demonstration, protesting the policies of the Obama administration, and I certainly appreciate much of what they stand for, and of what they are doing. The Tea Party, of which there are many different groups scattered across America is one of these organizations. I would not criticize anyone who is a part of this movement. I think that is an individual decision, yet, for myself, although I sympathize with much this movement stands for, and is trying to accomplish, I must be careful that I do not forget that which is most important, the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is so easy to get caught up in something as important as the crisis our nation is in, until all of sudden we realize that all of our time and effort has been consumed fighting against the symptoms of America’s problems, and not against the cause. Obama and his agenda is a symptom of what is wrong in America, it is not the cause. And although we need to stand up against such anti-American agendas, we need more so to address the cause, and that cancer which has spawned men like Obama and others, is our nation has forgotten God, and thumbed her nose at His law.

What is more needed today in America is the gospel of Jesus Christ. We can vote in a new congress, and replace every Senator and Congressman, but without the influence of the gospel of Jesus Christ, it would simply be a matter of time before these men would be as corrupt as their predecessors. The reason for the existence of our nation is the gospel. Our founding fathers, being influenced by the power of the gospel, were firmly resolved to form a new nation, dedicated to, and abiding by the principles they found in God’s Holy Word. The only thing that is going to return America to her former glory, is to remember that the glory of America was the God of the Bible, and as much as I sympathize with the Tea Party movement, that alone is not going to restore this glory. It can only be restored by the continual preaching of the true gospel of Jesus Christ; not the watered down, catered to man gospel, but the truth that salvation is only by One, and that One is Jesus Christ. What men in Washington need is the same thing our President needs, and what the multitudes in America need; they need to have a personal acquaintance with Jesus Christ, and that only comes by the gospel. Let us not forget our primary’ responsibility; Preach The Gospel of Christ!
